My name is Richard Krug. I live and work full-time
in Costa Rica. I’ve been successfully putting together

The captain or guide. What's his experience
and reputation? How many years has he been a captain
in Costa Rica? Does he speak English? Is he an owner
/operator? We promote only the top gun captains, guys like Bobby McGuinness out of Golfito, named the world's top captain of 2006 by the IGFA, who again made the IGFA's Top 10 list in 2008, setting 13 world records. I’ll never recommend a Costa Rica fishing
captain I'm not comfortable with or don’t know.

Be clear on your quarry. If you’re
after billfish like sailfish or marlin, for example,
or tuna, I’ll send you to the area on Costa
Rica’s Pacific coast where the bite is on. For
tarpon and snook, it’s the Caribbean
side for your sportfishing vacation.

The boat. Because Costa Rica fishing techniques
differ on the Pacific and Caribbean
coasts, I'm always following new developments. I promise you I will never recommend
a boat I'm not sure of.
